Message Interrupt

Does Voice Guide allow for message interrupt or key ahead? eg. rather than playing the entire sound file, can the user make a selection and interrupt the sound file so that it goes to the appropriate menu.

 

If so, where can I find this feature when designing a module?

Yes, this is how VoiceGuide operates by default. If a key has been pressed that matches any of the paths in Play module then the sound file playing will stop and that path will be taken.

 

In a Get Numbers module pressing any key will result in the played file being stopped.

 

A word of note is that some voice modems take up to a couple of seconds to stop playing after they have been told to stop playing - that is just how some modems are. Telephony cards (eg: Dialogic) will stop the playing of the sound file immediately.

 

(It is possible to force VG not to stop playing of the sound file as well if that is what is needed...)

Can this functionality be used from the 'Play module' or only the 'Get numbers' module?

This does not happen for our files within our 'play modules'. Upon pressing the button for a defined path, the sound file does not stop playing. The entire file plays, before the key press is activated.

 

What do you suggest to do? Is this our modem or something else? (We have already tried about 5 different modems) and this is the only one that worked at all).

It would be your modem. We've seen modems that take 3-5 seconds to stop play. Looks like your modem ignores stop play altogether...

 

For professional results you really should be using a Dialogic card.
